From Thursday, February 26 through Friday, February 27, 2015 Professor Rik W. De Doncker, Marco Stieneker and Nils Soltau took part on the "SMART GRID WORKSHOP" at the University of Alberta in Canada.
Apart from the participants of PGS Dr. Christopher Breuer and Dr. Andreas Schäfer from the Institute of Power Systems and Power Economics (IAEW) and Dr. Christian Haag from the FEN GmbH had come. The collaborative workshop will allow researchers professional and academic exchange. In the 2-day workshop, the experts from the University of Alberta and the RWTH Aachen meet to strengthen both the existing cooperations as to call new collaborations to life. This may lead to new research projects.
During the workshop, Professor Rik W. De Doncker delivered the keynote lecture on "Flexible Electric Networks of the Future - Power Electronics as Key Enabler".
Among other topics, the workshop dealt in short lectures with topics related to Distributed Generation and Smart Grids, Integrated Grid Concepts, and the future possibilities around Smart grids.
