Exergy Battery Storage System (BSS) in Aachen
A 1 MW/125 kWh battery storage system that consists of nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery cells was built at E.ON Research Center. One aim of this project is testing of charging and discharging properties, with focus on fast response times, high power capability and cycling stability. Provision of primary control reserve (PCR) represents a suitable use case for the BSS. More over, testing of use cases like peak shaving, spinning reserve and power supply of fast charging stations for EV´s are planned.
