FENominal Friday
FENominal Friday - Transformation im Energiesektor durch Open Source Collaboration
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Antonello Monti, Institute for Automation of Complex Energy Systems - Director ACS / Chair Automation of Complex Energy Systems RWTH Aachen
For long time open source has been considered an approach valid only for research but not for commercial applications. Other sectors proved this point to be wrong. Open source is a mechanism of cooperation that brings high quality products and incredible savings. Key point is the definition of a governance model. The energy sector recently started moving in this direction and concrete examples are already showing the benefits. The talk will illustrate the process and give a glimpse on future developments.
Background: In the FEN research campus funded by the BMBF, concepts are being researched in transdisciplinary cooperation between 17 companies and several institutes of RWTH Aachen University that will enable a stable, affordable and secure supply of electrical energy today and in the future.
